Yoga – achieving moksha


Yoga is a mental discipline which is followed for improving one’s health condition both physically and mentally. The art of yoga was born in India. It has a great history in that place. There are many forms of Yoga which are practiced. They include Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. Yoga usually stands for the word uniting or joining. It is usually believed as an art in which the mind and the soul gets united. Yoga has several asanas which helps us to improve our health condition. The asanas are nothing but the positions for doing meditation and other exercises. Pranayama is used for breathing which is known for controlling the life force. The Bhagavat Gita, the holy book of the Hindus mention three different types of yoga. The three different forms are karma yoga, bhakti yoga, jnana yoga. The karma yoga is the yoga of action and the bhakti yoga is the yoga of devotion and jnana yoga is the yoga of knowledge. Yoga is not only practiced by hindus but also by other traditions. The other traditions are Buddhism, Christianity, Islam. Hence Yoga is an universally accepted art which is practiced by people for its benefits. It achieves the unity of body and mind.
